Why Businesses Choose Tampa Bay Pay

Local guidance, better setup, and support after the sale

  • Custom recommendations based on your business model
  • Hardware, software, and payment processing under one roof
  • Hands-on local setup, training, and support
  • Restaurant, retail, service, and mobile-friendly options
  • Solutions that scale as your business grows
  • Real guidance instead of being pushed into a generic system
The POS Lock-In Problem

Most POS shopping turns into a processing trap.

Big-brand POS platforms bundle their own payment processing — and lock you into it. You start by picking a "great" POS, end up paying 3.5% on every transaction, and find out switching processors means switching POS, too. The math gets worse every year.

Here's how the common options stack up against picking your POS and processor separately.

Square POS
Bundled flat-rate · 2.6%+ · Processor locked to Square

Toast (restaurants)
$69-$165/mo + processing · Multi-year contracts common

Lightspeed Retail

Our top pick for restaurants
Built specifically for restaurants — pizza shops, delis, quick-service, cafes. Modifier-friendly menus, kitchen printer integration, caller ID, and a clean interface that staff actually pick up fast. MaterialBoutique Retail
Built for Retail
Material point of sale system
Material Retail
Material Retail
Made for boutiques & independent retail
Material is a sleek, iPad-based POS built specifically for boutiques and independent retailers — and it's the system we lean on hardest in the retail space. Start with a single iPad and build out from there, adding barcode scanners, receipt printers, and cash drawers as you grow. It syncs cleanly with Shopify and QuickBooks, so your in-store and online inventory stay in step. For style-driven retail that wants something modern and uncluttered, this is our go-to.
  • iPad-based — start simple, expand as you grow
  • Connects barcode scanners, receipt printers, cash drawers
  • Syncs inventory and orders with Shopify
  • QuickBooks integration for clean books
  • Best for boutiques, apparel, and independent retail
OctoPOSGrocery & Markets
Built for Grocery
OctoPOS point of sale system
OctoPOS
OctoPOS
Grocery and market POS, done right
OctoPOS was built by grocery owners for grocery and market operations — the kind of store where you've got variable-weight produce, perishable inventory, bottle deposits, and EBT customers in the same checkout line. Cloud-based and scale-ready, it handles the things generic POS systems fumble: weight-based pricing, multiple barcodes per item, expiration tracking, and high-volume multi-lane checkout. Also a strong fit for convenience and specialty food stores.
  • EBT / SNAP acceptance built in
  • Variable-weight items with scale integration
  • Bottle and container deposit tracking
  • Perishable inventory with expiration and low-stock alerts
  • Best for grocery, markets, convenience, and specialty food
TableTurnPay-at-Table
Tableside & Online
TableTurn pay-at-table and online ordering system
TableTurn
TableTurn
Bring the checkout to the table
TableTurn is a restaurant management platform that lets your servers take payment right at the table — plus curbside, delivery, and online ordering. The card never leaves the guest's hand, so you turn tables faster, lift tips, and cut chargebacks. It layers onto the POS you already run rather than replacing it, and pairs cleanly with Exatouch. We set it up and support it locally.
  • Pay-at-table — the card never leaves the guest's hand
  • Curbside, delivery, and online ordering built in
  • Turn tables faster and lift average tips
  • Fewer chargebacks with EMV right at the table
  • Works alongside your POS — pairs cleanly with Exatouch
Korona POSSpecialty Retail
Specialty Retail
Korona POS point of sale system
Korona POS
Korona POS
Inventory-heavy specialty retail
Korona is a cloud-based POS built for specialty retail with deep inventory needs — liquor stores, wine shops, convenience, vape, and similar high-SKU operations. It handles case/pack/bottle breakdowns, automatic reorder points, vendor management, and detailed reporting, with age-verification prompts at checkout. It's also processor-agnostic with no long-term contracts, so you keep control of your rates. Scales cleanly from one store to many.
  • Case, pack, and single-bottle inventory breakdowns
  • Automatic reorder points and vendor management
  • Age verification prompts at checkout
  • Processor-agnostic with no long-term contracts
  • Best for liquor, wine, convenience, and specialty retail
ExatouchAll-in-One
All-in-One POS
Exatouch point of sale system
Exatouch
Exatouch
One complete POS for the whole store
Exatouch is a full, server-based all-in-one POS that runs restaurants, bars, liquor, grocery, and retail from one system — with integrated payments, inventory, employees, customers, and a cloud dashboard built in. It keeps ringing sales even if the internet drops, backed by 24/7 U.S.-based support. One of the systems we deploy most.
  • All-in-one: payments, inventory, employees & customers built in
  • Runs restaurants, bars, liquor, grocery & retail
  • POS Cloud dashboard — real-time reporting from anywhere
  • Keeps working offline · 24/7 U.S.-based support

Frequently Asked Questions

POS systems — answered

Which POS do you recommend for restaurants?
It depends on the restaurant type. For quick-service, pizza, deli, and counter-service spots, FigurePOS is our top pick — it's fast, modifier-friendly, and staff learn it without weeks of training. For full-service dining and bars, Exatouch runs the floor — tabs, tables, and full service — and TableTurn layers on top to add fast pay-at-table, curbside, and online ordering so the card never leaves the guest's hand. We'll walk through your menu, ticket count, and floor plan before recommending.
Which POS do you recommend for retail?
For most retail, Material POS and Clover are our main options — Clover in particular works across a wide range of business types. From there it depends on what you sell: Korona is mainly geared toward liquor stores, and OctoPOS toward grocery, so we'll point you to those when they fit (and walk through the details with you). SwipeSimple is the versatile, low-cost choice for pop-ups and mobile retail, similar in flexibility to Clover. We'll match the system to how your store actually runs.
Can I keep my current POS and just switch processors?
Usually yes. Many POS systems are processor-agnostic — Clover, FigurePOS, OctoPOS, Korona, SwipeSimple, and many others let you swap the processor underneath without changing your hardware or workflow. The big exceptions are bundled-processor systems like Toast, Square, Lightspeed, Shopify POS, and Genius, which run their own built-in processing. We'll be upfront about whether your current POS allows a processor swap.
How much does a POS system cost?
It varies. Mobile-only setups (SwipeSimple, Clover Go) can be effectively free for qualified merchants — you bring the device. Counter systems (Clover, Material POS, OctoPOS, Korona) range from one-time hardware costs to bundled monthly programs. Full restaurant POS systems (FigurePOS, Exatouch) typically include hardware plus a software subscription, and pay-at-table add-ons like TableTurn run a separate monthly fee on top of your POS. We provide actual pricing — no leasing tricks, no hidden monthly fees — before you commit.
Will I need new hardware?
Not always. If your current hardware is compatible with the POS we're recommending, we'll use what you have. If your hardware is outdated or doesn't support modern requirements (EMV chip, NFC tap, PCI standards), we'll recommend the right replacement. We never sell hardware you don't need.
Do you train my staff on the new POS?
Yes. In-person staff training is included with every POS implementation. We come on-site, set up the menu/inventory/workflow, walk your team through operations, and stick around to answer questions. For multi-shift teams, we typically train each shift separately so everyone gets hands-on time.
What if I outgrow my current POS?
That's a good problem to have, and we'll help you migrate. We've moved merchants from Square to FigurePOS as they grew past Square's limits, from basic setups to Korona as their inventory needs deepened, and from cash-only registers into modern POS as their business modernized. We handle the data migration and the parallel-run setup so you're not flying blind during the switch.
Are there monthly software fees?
Depends on the system. Some platforms (FigurePOS, Exatouch, Korona) include software subscriptions because they're full-featured restaurant, hospitality, or specialty-retail systems, and pay-at-table add-ons like TableTurn carry their own monthly fee. Others (Clover, SwipeSimple basic) have minimal or no recurring software fees beyond your merchant account. We disclose all software costs upfront — never buried in the statement.
